"Taste of Tango" and Regular 2nd Sunday Milonga at Victorian Square

As part of "Take Pride in the Bluegrass", LexTango will be offering a free introductory Argentine Tango lesson to the public from 5 to 5:45, before our regular 2nd Sunday milonga. Dancing will continue as usual from 5:45 to 8:30 p.m. And Happy Mother's Day as well!!

Thank you Judy and Ron for giving the introductory lesson to about 12 people who braved the terrible weather on Mother's Day. And thanks to our "leads" for making sure no woman got away with "just watching"!! Between the holiday and weather, our attendance for this 2nd Sunday Milonga wasn't the biggest, but the energy throughout the evening was impressive! So good to FINALLY see our glob-trotting Pat and Monty back at a LexTango function, and we had a visitor from Morehead University we hope to see again.

It's Spring, it's Spring! Well... it didn't look or feel like it outside, but with the help of some daisey garland and yellow tablecloths, at least in looked like Spring in the Atrium!

Despite the biggest snow storm of the season the previous day, this was one of our biggest turn outs! Jan brought four students from Berea, recently returned from Buenos Aires. A number of observers asked about classes.....an advantage to dancing in public. See it. Dream it. Dance it. (Insert "study it" between dream it and dance it. OK, and insert "practice it" in there someplace.) Lynda wins the prize for the best skirt EVER!

PDT at Al's Bar (Public Display of Tango)
6:30 to 8:30 or whenever the band kicks us out.

We got smart this time and didn't put the tables on the stage. That bought us more time when the band started to move in! The locals still don't know quite what to think of us. Most of us are now addicted to the sweet potato fries. Kelly was terribly disappointed because they were out of catfish burgers (?). Al's bar is at 6th and Limestone, diagonally across from the old Spaldings Bakery.

It's been exactly 24 hours since our last Milonga! Brooklyn Pizza was giving away free drinks for Tango Dancers....soft drinks, that is. The Intermediate class walked over from Artsplace. Cherie brought down a group of young people from Louisville. Valentine decor by Rita!!

Everybody's welcome! No cover; but management appreciates it when we eat and drink. This Milonga is part of LexArts Arts Showcase Weekend.

It's a busy weekend for dancers! Judy flew in at the last moment, literally. We had about 45 spectators throughout the afternoon due to publicity for Arts Showcase Weekend, and about 26 dancers. Jim Clark from the Arts Council, LexArts, even popped in. Several couples were off to the USA Dance at Oleika later in the evening; others were performing. The rest of us are resting up for tomorrow's milonga at Victorian Square.
