Holiday Milonga at the Sound Bar

A beautiful, intimate setting. Thanks to the crew at the Sound Bar for making us feel so welcome in their newly remodeled Level II with its beautiful wooden floor. No event would be complete without at least one minor emergency. They couldn't make the sound system upstairs behave, and it's really not possible to dance without music! So Kelly ran to Lu Ann's to fetch her sound system. First tanda was played on a boom box...then the big guns arrived. Thanks Ursula for helping set out the snacks.

2nd Sunday Milonga at Victorian Square

This marked our 4th year of 2nd Sunday Milongas at Victorian Square and it was an extra nice one! We love it when the Louisville contingency drives down, it adds such great energy. We were pleased to see Mike and Kathy back and thrilled to have several beginning students in attendance Of course there wouldn't be a 2nd Sunday without "the regulars".... you know who you are! And dear Marcella adds her special glamor to the evening. We are so lucky! Thanks to Kelly for four year's of hauling that ridiculously heavy amp around and helping with set up. Thanks also to everyone who pitches in to help tear down, from blowing out candles after the last song and folding up table cloths, to resetting the table and chairs. Lu Ann took lots of good pictures, and lost them all when her phone crashed. Oh well.

2nd Sunday Milonga at Victorian Square

Lu Ann had just returned from India the day before; that might explain the Bollywood cortinas! Thanks to the folks at Blue Agave Cantina for putting up with our music in the atrium. Sure the words are in Spanish, but they don't normally play tangos for their clientelle. The weather was really too nice to be spending the afternoon indoors...but you know tango dancers! There we were!

2nd Sunday Milonga at Victorian Square

What great energy! And why not? Special guests Alejandra Gutty and Mauro Caiazza of Forever Tango were in attendance and did a demonstration dance to La Cumparsita. What a thrill. Marcela Duran was also in attendance. Other special guests included Lu Ann's Dad, up from Florida with his wife, Betty.

5:30 to 8 p.m. Everybody's welcome: beginners and observers, too! Music is predominately traditional. The only place around where you can dance under the old-fashioned street lamps and still be inside!

Hot hot hot in Lexington and much of the country. But it's never too hot to embrace for tango!
