Milonga at Natasha's
3:00 to 5:30 p.m.
Natasha's Cafe
112 Esplanade, Lexington, KY 40507
Traditional Music
Everybody's welcome! No cover; but management appreciates it when
we eat and drink. This Milonga is part of LexArts Arts Showcase
Weekend.
It's a busy weekend for dancers! Judy flew in at the last moment,
literally. We had about 45 spectators throughout the afternoon due
to publicity for Arts Showcase Weekend, and about 26 dancers. Jim
Clark from the Arts Council, LexArts, even popped in. Several couples
were off to the USA Dance at Oleika later in the evening; others
were performing. The rest of us are resting up for tomorrow's milonga
at Victorian Square.

Al's Bar January 31, 2008
|
January 31, 2008
PDT at Al's Bar (Public Display of Tango)
6:30 to 8:30 or whenever the band kicks us out.
Not exactly a Milonga, but not just accidental Tango either. We
clear away the tables and dance.
Another great night at Al's! The sweet potato fries are not
to be missed. The Big Maracas played later on, and the die-hards
were rewarded with a tango or two performed live by the band!
See playlist
for our last PDT (January 31) here.

music.
DeSha's Restaurant and Bar will be open during the Milonga and afterwards

Bonus! The Herald-Leader sent a photographer on assignment and
she stayed for almost the entire Milonga. Mike even took her out
for a spin. We had several table of observers due to a nice sidebar
in Friday's Weekender. We're hoping for a full article in February.

Al's Bar December 31, 2007 |
December 31, 2007
PDT at Al's Bar
Not quite a Milonga, but not just accidental Tango. We clear the
tables away and dance. Music is both traditional and nuevo/alternative.
There are no tandas; the music plays straight through. Inexpensive
bar food is available. Parking is available behind the bar and on
the street. This is a "transitional neighborhood" and
you might not feel comfortable walking alone. Usually, we pretty
much have the place to ourselves, except for some guys playing pool
From uptown to downtown. What better way to finish the year
than with a somewhat impromtu "Public Display of Tango"
before the Big Maracas arrived to play at Al's Bar at 6th and Limestone?
Surreal. They want us back!!

"First Tango in Paris"
Location: Migdalia's Restaurant and Bar Ballroom (2nd floor)
500 West Main Street, Paris, KY 40361
7:00 p.m. till 10:00 p.m. (or later!)
Dress to Impress! No Cover. There will be table service. Migdalia's
Restaurant
Wow! It certainly won't be the last. As one dancer put it, "As
far as milongas go, on a scale of one to ten, this is a twelve!"
We had 31 dancers (including a large contingent from Cinci and our
special guest, Richard from San Francisco!) plus a number of observers.
A very romantic setting, we all agreed! Plus the food was outstanding!
Thanks to Joel for taking such good care of us.
